VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI — A man was arrested after he ran into a cornfield following a police pursuit, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said.

The 33-year-old Hartford area man was in a black 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer with an improper registration when a deputy attempted to pull him over just after 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5.

The pursuit started in the village of Decatur on East Sherwood Street near South East Street when the driver did not stop after police activated emergency lights and sirens following observing traffic violations.

The vehicle turned north onto Seneca Street, proceeding to Delaware Street and continuing westbound. The vehicle continued westbound, ignoring traffic lights and the speed limit, until reaching the village limits south of town on M-51, police said.
