Srinagar, Oct 8: As temperatures begin to dip across the Kashmir Valley, its skies and wetlands are preparing to welcome their seasonal guests, hundreds of thousands of migratory birds that journey from distant lands to spend the winter months in the region’s serene landscapes.
Over the coming weeks, flocks from Siberia, China, Eastern Europe, and Japan are expected to descend upon the wetlands of Kashmir, repeating a timeless migratory ritual that has connected these birds to the Valley for centuries.
From mallards, gadwalls, and pintails to Eurasian teals and the striking Brahminy ducks, these winged travelers cover thousands of kilometers to escape the freezing temperatures of their breeding grounds. Their arrival, for many in the Valley, signals the true onset of winter
