BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - New York State Senator Peter Oberacker announced his bid for Congress earlier this week, and he spoke on Wednesday in Broome County for the first time since launching his campaign.
Oberacker highlighted many of his achievements as Senator, including a bipartisan bill to remove dangerous food ingredients such as red dye number 40, getting whole milk back into schools, and protecting farmers, among others.
The Republican says his campaign is pitted against what he calls the socialist agenda of incumbent Congressman Josh Riley, Governor Hochul, and New York City Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.
"I am running for Congress because Washington could use a dose of common sense, or as I like to refer to it, country sense from Upstate New York," said Oberacker.
