SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A mom delivered her own baby on the side of a major northeast Ohio freeway with her husband and kids by her side.

Summit County Emergency Communications Center dispatcher Maddison Sharp was on the phone with parents Christina Mitchell and Marco Cuadra, who delivered their daughter, Melanie, on the side of I-77 north in Coventry, Wednesday morning.

Dispatcher Sharp guided the parents through an unconventional roadside delivery until EMS could arrive and take Mom and the baby girl to the hospital.

“Answered the 911. Within a minute and a half, there was a baby,” said Sharp.

Mom and dad are counting their blessings. Telling me they thought they had more time than they did to get to the hospital.
