RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Raleigh County deputy was praised for his quick response after rescuing a 91-year-old woman who had fallen into a thorn bush in her backyard.

According to Sheriff Frank Priddy, the county’s Emergency Operations Center received a call from the woman reporting that she was trapped and at risk of further injury.

Emergency medical services were en route but still some distance away.

Corporal R. McDaniel, who was nearby, arrived at the scene before EMS.

He safely removed the woman from the thorn bush and assisted her to EMS personnel upon their arrival.

Sheriff Priddy and Chief Deputy Frankie Shelton commended Cpl. McDaniel for his prompt and selfless actions during the incident.
