NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Neighbors are on edge after learning about the brutal murder of 74-year-old North Nashville resident Harriet Edwards.

“It's really awful, and I pray for the family,” longtime neighborhood resident Shirley Martin told News 2.

Police said Edwards was discovered Monday morning by a friend who hadn't heard from her in several days. That's when she was found strangled and with blunt force injuries to her head. However, investigators think she was actually killed three days prior, on Friday, after reviewing a medical log that she kept.

“I'm so upset about that, that really touches my heart for someone to do (that to) a lady that age, and I'm about in the same category, same age category. But like I said, we have to be careful each and every day,” Martin said.
