LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

After a series of recent plane incidents across the region, including Tuesday’s runway overrun at Bowman Field, questions are being raised about what is causing them.

Bryan Arnold, a pilot who has flown out of Bowman Field for 16 years, says even seasoned crews can face challenges when conditions stack up.

“There’s some close calls that I go, well, I learned from that one and I won’t do that again,” Arnold said.

Tuesday’s incident involved a Cessna 525B jet attempting to land during a heavy downpour. The aircraft overshot the runway, broke through a chain-link fence and came to a stop on Seneca Golf Course. Two pilots and two passengers were not hurt.

Arnold emphasized that most incidents rarely have a single cause.
