OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - As Omaha Police continue to investigate the killing of 27-year-old DeQurae Murrell, her family — still in shock — continues to mourn.

Murrel was shot early Sunday morning and later died from her wounds . Police found her in the parking lot of Kelly’s Package Liquor store, near 30th and Pinkney streets, suffering from a gunshot wound. She would later die from her injuries.

Her sisters, who call her “Rae,” told First Alert 6 that whomever is responsible doesn’t realize what they’ve done to their family.

“I am literally broken to pieces,” said Murrell’s sister, Vanisha Evans. “I never... I never experienced anything like this. She was my best friend. It’s very hard.”
