ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (WDBJ) - “I can remember him the day he was born and that’s all I have now is my memories, you know, of my son and that helps to keep me going,” Christopher Douthat’s mother Mary Douthat said.

Almost 12 years ago, Mary Douthat dropped her son off at Vinton Roofing, where he worked.

That would be the last time she saw or heard from her son .

Ever since, his family has worked to put together the pieces of the puzzle to find out what happened to him.

His brother Michael remembers him as someone with a heart of gold.

“He did free mechanic work for people at times that were in struggles and he might have got ripped off a couple of times, but he did it because he he has it inside of him. He’s a loving person. He was a wonderful guy,” Michael said.
