TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Tucson's public transit safety is facing safety challenges as city leaders and community members discuss ways to improve conditions for drivers and riders.

During a study session, Vice Mayor Lane Santa Cruz filed a motion for city leadership to propose a plan to enhance public transit safety within 60 days.

Concerns about safety have been voiced by both Sun Tran drivers and riders. Jolene Enos, a lifelong Tucson resident and Sun Tran rider, said, "I've been in Tucson my whole life. And I think they should come back to how it used to be, charging people to get on the bus."
