A Melbourne man is in custody for the Palisades Fire earlier this year in California that forced thousands of people to evacuate.

It was one of the most destructive wildfires in Los Angeles' history. And now a Central Florida suspect is in custody.

Jonathan Rinderknecht, 29, has been charged with Destruction of Property by Means of Fire.

Acting United States Attorney Bill Essayli said, "We are announcing the arrest of 29 -year -old Jonathan Rinderknecht for igniting a fire that ultimately burned down the Palisades earlier this year, killing 12 people, destroying more than 6800 structures, both homes and businesses, and damaging over 1000 more buildings."
