Popular outdoor equipment retailer REI Co-op confirmed Wednesday that it plans to close its only store in Boston late next year.
The Washington-based chain did not say what drove the decision to shutter its location on Park Drive in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood, but suggested in a statement that its customers patronize other REI stores in Massachusetts once it shuts down. "Since opening in 2003, it has been an honor to serve this community, and we are deeply grateful to our team, our members and customers," the statement reads.
Boston is not the only community set to lose its REI store in coming months, according to The Boston Globe . The retailer also plans to close its SoHo neighborhood location in New York City late
