United Transformation Movement (UTM) Vice President for the Central Region, Hellen Zalira Chabunya, has been appointed Senior Research Fellow at Harvard University’s Women and Public Policy Program (WAPPP).

The fellowship, based at the Harvard Kennedy School, recognizes her leadership in governance, gender equality, climate finance, and digital democracy.

Chabunya will be based in Malawi, where she will conduct research aimed at informing national policy reforms.

She described the opportunity as a chance to “turn evidence into action” for Malawi’s development.

A graduate of both Harvard and Oxford, she has over 16 years of experience in diplomacy and development.

Chabunya also chairs the Coalition for the Empowerment of Women and Girls (CEWAG) and serves on the board of Rephaiah Pharm
