CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Coastal flooding is anticipated Thursday and Friday due in part to high tide, rain, and a gusty northeast wind.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Charleston issued a coastal flood warning from 8 a.m. Thursday through 3 p.m. Friday, adding that “significant saltwater flooding” was possible.
High tide will occur at 10:06 a.m. Thursday and 11:02 a.m. Friday, however, forecasters say flooding can happen two to three hours before and after peak high tide.
Elevating tides will cause flooding in low-lying areas and could impact the morning commute on both days. Drivers should anticipate road closures in the downtown area; do not drive or walk through standing water.
Tide Schedule and Expected Levels Thursday: 10:06 a.m., 8.0 ft; 10:31 p.m., 7.6 ft Frid
