New Delhi, Oct 09: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the opening of nine British university campuses in India, including those from Southampton, Surrey, and Lancaster, during a press conference with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The initiative aims to enhance UK-India educational ties and address the high demand for higher education in India, with 70 million places needed by 2035. The Gurugram campus of Southampton University is already operational.

This move aligns with the UK-India Free Trade Agreement, promoting collaboration in research and academic exchange, ultimately benefiting both countries’ economies.
