More than a dozen pets perished Tuesday night in a fire in Avon.
The fire broke out in the log cabin off Square Mile Road about 9:30 p.m., according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
No one was home at the time, but 11 dogs and four cats that were inside died in the blaze, Moss said Wednesday evening.
Investigators have been unable to determine how the fire started because of the extensive damage.
