Work on a major new six-storey hotel in Wigan has now got underway - and it will form part of one of the ‘most ambitious regeneration projects’ in Greater Manchester.
The 144-bed Hampton by Hilton Wigan hotel will open in the borough’s town centre in winter 2027. Creating more than 30 jobs in the area, the 5,800m² building will be owned by Wigan Council and operated by Leaf Hospitality.
Designed by JM Architects’ Manchester studio, the hotel will feature a range of interiors inspired by the Northern Soul movement which was spurred on by the thriving emergence of venues like Wigan Casino in the 1970s.
