SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Demonstrators with dueling goals held two protests Wednesday along Route 1 in Scarborough.

One group was in opposition to the policies and actions by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The other was in support of the agents and the policy agenda.

The protest in favor of ICE's agenda took place at the intersection with Lincoln Drive, while the demonstration in opposition was held simultaneously on in front of Town Hall.

Those in favor of ICE celebrated the crackdown on immigration that the Trump administration has been putting into action across the U.S. since his first day in office. Demonstrators argued that anti-ICE rhetoric puts agents in danger. It's a concern also echoed by the Department of Homeland Security.
