Police have moved to calm parents' fears following social media posts about 'suspicious' men seen outside schools in Salford .

GMP Salford say each report has been investigated and the men were found to be 'contractors working in the close proximity'.

In a Facebook post, police also said Beat the Street app, an interactive game that encourages users to walk, run and cycle in their local community, was also causing an 'increase of activity outside of the schools'.

In a statement GMP Salford said: "We are aware of a number of reports on social media regarding suspicious males near to a number of schools in the Swinton and Salford area, which is understandably causing concern and fear to parents.
