ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Two local companies had their grant awards terminated in federal funding cuts.
Ionomr Innovations Inc. in Brighton and Plug Power Inc. in Henrietta had millions of dollars in grant funding terminated by the Trump Administration. Governor Hochul says the funding was going to go towards clean energy.
According to New York State, Ionomr lost $4,969,022, and Plug Power lost $70,877,654. Hochul says these cuts will risk over 1,000 jobs and lead to an estimated economic hit of $650 million.
According to the Energy Department, over 200 projects were terminated after determining they did not adequately advance the nation's energy needs, nor were they economically viable. Russell Vought, the White House budget director, said the money was going to "fuel the Left's climat
