BRIGHTON, N.Y. (WROC) — Drivers in Brighton may notice a new tool aimed at slowing down traffic: a speed trailer called the ATS trailer, recently rolled out by the Brighton Police Department.

Unlike DOT speed cameras, the ATS trailer does not record drivers or issue tickets. Instead, it’s designed to make motorists more aware of their speed and provide real-time feedback.

Lieutenant Allison Laubacher says the trailer also sends speed data back to the department, helping officers identify problem areas.

“If there is a speeding problem, it allows us to do comprehensive speed enforcement or analyze whether one street needs more patrols than another so we can increase our traffic patrols in that area,” Laubacher said.
