MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A letter from a Tennessee state representative outlines the responsibilities National Guardsmen will have when they deploy to Memphis.
Memphis Police Chief C.J. Davis expects the National Guard to become fully active in Memphis on Friday.
FOX13 obtained a letter from the Tennessee State Representative that outlines the National Guard's expected role in Memphis.
Harris wrote that the National Guard will serve in "supportive, non-enforcement roles such as community safety patrols, traffic control, and site security, assisting local law enforcement but not replacing them."
The letter also says that the National Guard is expected to begin operations in Shelby County "by Friday."
