NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven police say an Arethusa Farm Dairy employee was assaulted when they tried to stop a man from allegedly robbing the downtown store Wednesday.
Officers were dispatched to the 1020 Chapel Street ice cream shop for report of a robbery around 7 p.m.
Police said the reporting party told them an unknown male entered the store, took the tip jar and then proceeded to exit, where they were intercepted by a store employee outside.
The suspect allegedly assaulted the employee, pulling a pocket knife on them.
Police described the suspect as a Black male with a goatee between 30 and 35 years old and standing 5 feet and 10 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a red hooded jean jacket, blue jeans, black shoes, and a black backpack.
