A general plan amendment and rezoning 0.62 acres to allow the construction of a new fourplex to replace a building constructed in 1934 were recently approved by the Apache Junction City Council.

The council on Oct. 7 voted unanimously to approve the rezoning and general plan change.

The Apache Junction Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously Aug. 26 to recommend the city council approve the request by Hermelinda Pando of Hermelinda Properties LLC. Pando is seeking to rezone 282 N. Palo Verde Drive from medium density single-family detached residential to high density multiple-family residential by planned development and a minor general plan amendment from medium density residential to high density residential.
