UPDATE: A Chattanooga man is charged with assault after a SWAT standoff on Shannon Avenue overnight early Thursday morning.
A woman living in the home had told Raymond McDowell to leave shortly before he walked out of the bedroom with a firearm in his waistband, according to an affidavit obtained by Local 3 News.
The victim told police that he pointed it at her, then struck her several times.
She also said she thought she had been shot during the assault, and that McDowell told her "if I shoot again I'll kill you," before she escaped out an open window.
She ran to the home of her neighbor, who called 911.
Hospital staff told the victim she had a fracture between her nose and eye socket.
After a lengthy SWAT standoff, Chattanooga police arrested McDowell.
