Firefighters and police officers in Atlantic City used a pair of drones to locate a man stranded on a personal watercraft in a marsh on Sunday.
The man was on a WaveRunner when he called for help, Atlantic City police said. Officials used location technology to find out where he was, but were unable to find him because of the rough and watery terrain.
Police then deployed the drones — one launched from the police department and one from Atlantic City High School. The drone pilot, Sgt. Chris Miller, located the man within a few minutes, less than a mile-and-a-half from the high school.
Miller then called the State Police’s marine unit, who sent a boat to pick up the man.
