WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) - The Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors issued a statement Thursday following the arrest of one of its members on sexual abuse charges.

Supervisor Christopher Schwartz was arrested on Wednesday and charged with two counts of third-degree sexual abuse. Criminal complaints list two incidents in 2023 when Schwartz is accused of engaging in sexual activity with someone while they were incapacitated. In one instance, the alleged victim discovered pictures of the incident after the fact. In the other, the alleged victim woke up during the incident.

In response, the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors issued a statement Thursday acknowledging Schwartz’s arrest and that it was waiting for the legal process to play out.
