The Pisgah Visitor Center will remain open during the federal government shutdown with the help of volunteers from a regional nonprofit amid Western North Carolina's busiest tourist season.
FIND Outdoors, a regional nonprofit based in WNC, temporarily assumed the operations of the Pisgah Visitor Center in the Pisgah National Forest on Oct. 1, the day the shutdown began, FIND spokesperson Brayden Benkiel-Robinson told the Citizen Times. The nonprofit plans to maintain operations at the visitor center as long as the shutdown lasts.
