The National Weather Service has issued an alert for frost in areas of North Carolina including Buncombe County.

Data from the National Weather Service indicates that the average date of the first frost in the Asheville area is Oct. 28. According to the weather service alert, which was issued at 2:03 a.m. on Oct. 9, that first frost might come a bit early this year.
