State police have confirmed they are assisting in a New York City Police Department-led search at High Acres Landfill in Perinton on Thursday, Oct. 9.

The search may be for a missing 11-year-old boy from Brooklyn, according to several other news outlets .

According to Waste Management , who owns the landfill privately, waste is accepted via rail from all five New York City boroughs.
