NEW YORK (PIX11) — With rain and possible damaging winds on the horizon for New York City and Long Island, flooding could come as a result.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued coastal flood watches for New York City, Long Island, Northern New Jersey and parts of Connecticut for Sunday's potential storm.

The NWS says damaging winds across eastern New York and widespread coastal flooding are likely for the entire coastline, with the possibility of major flooding for some areas with high tides.

Peak winds between 25 and 35 mph, with possible gusts up to 60 mph, are expected Sunday afternoon into the evening. Powerlines and trees might fall as a result.
