FORDHAM, THE BRONX (PIX11) - Some business owners in the Fordham section of the Bronx say they're seeing an increase in quality of life issues now that the NYPD launched a crackdown on crime in the area known as "The Hub".
Alex Amateau, the manager of the family-run business Original Botanica, told PIX 11 News, "Things are getting worse in terms of homeless, garbage, and vendors." Amateau said, "We have people walking in here, no shirt on, begging for money."
Mario DeGiorgio, who is on the Board of the Fordham Business Improvement District and the President of the HUB Third Avenue BID, told PIX 11 News, "We've cleaned everything up, but unfortunately, it seems like everything shifted up here to Fordham Road and it's getting worse."
