LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The results are in, and the Catholic Action Center is reporting that there are fewer people experiencing homelessness in Lexington.

The nonprofit organization, dedicated to helping the unhoused population, released its third annual street survey on Thursday. The report examines demographics, reasons for homelessness, and where people are sleeping, to further identify their needs.

According to the street survey, 2,868 people are experiencing homelessness, whether they’re in a temporary shelter or without a roof over their heads. That’s a 5.5% decrease compared to this time last year; however, Catholic Action Center Director Ginny Ramsey noted that no count is entirely accurate because some people may not have been reached or included in the survey.
