ROSEMONT, Ill. — Trey Thompson is still 17 years old. He is supposed to be a senior in high school. He’s only been on the Hawkeyes ' campus for about three months and participated in on-court team activities for even less time.

But Thompson is already making a strong impression on those within the Iowa basketball program.

“He’s definitely exceeded my expectations,” Iowa junior Cam Manyawu said of Thompson during Big Ten Media Days. “... You’d think he’d be a little bit more behind, but he hasn’t seemed to really have missed too much of a step. He’s just continuing to grow and learn every day. I really feel like with the more days he gets, he’s going to be really good.”

Thompson was a signficiant recruiting win this summer for Iowa coach Ben McCollum and company.
