A juvenile was fatally shot Thursday at a park near Oak Ridge High School, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

One juvenile shot another when an altercation broke out on a basketball court at Vogt-Meloon Park, which is next to the high school. The suspect fled on foot to the school, where a school resource deputy took him into custody, a sheriff’s office news release said. There are no outstanding suspects.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The release said it is still early in the investigation and included no other information.
