NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. — For the first time in history, Minnesota launched a Drinking Water Action Plan on Thursday to ensure safe drinking water for all parts of the state.

The 10-year plan, led by the Minnesota Department of Health in partnership with a number of entities and nonprofits, identifies both strengths and weaknesses in the water system and calls for continued investment in infrastructure to guard against threats like PFAS, lead, arsenic and other contaminants.

State officials celebrated the new plan Thursday morning with the New Brighton Water Treatment Plant as the backdrop.
