A Scottish pensioner was reported as a missing person - after missing his route during a Highlands hillwalk and ending up lost in the region for eight days. ‌

Ian Currie had travelled from his home in Edinburgh to take on the Cape Wrath Trail last month. But he got caught up in bad weather, which caused havoc with his plans. ‌

The 76-year-old, of the capital's Tollcross area, had set off from Glenfinnan and his route saw him heading towards the Knoydart peninsula in Lochaber. ‌

He ended up spending eight days alone in the Highlands with no food before he was found and rescued by a stranger. A major multi-agency search had been launched after Ian was reported missing by his frantic family .
