The Los Angeles Dodgers punched their ticket to the NLCS in an intense showdown, beating the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 in 11 innings in Game 4 on Thursday night. What looked like another tight postseason classic ended in heartbreak for Philadelphia after a horror throw from reliever Orion Kerkering.

In the bottom of the 11th, with the bases loaded and two outs, Kerkering mishandled a comebacker and wildly threw past catcher J.T. Realmuto’s head, despite Realmuto pointing to first base, allowing the Dodgers’ pinch-runner Hyeseong Kim to score the walk-off run.

As the Dodgers celebrated, Orion Kerkering stood on the mound broken, head down, realizing what had just happened. After the game, the pitcher opened up about his disappointing performance.
