SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The FBI recorded nearly 860,000 cyber attacks in the U.S. last year, prompting a cybersecurity conference in Springfield to educate the public on threats.

The conference was held at the Richard E. Neal Cybersecurity Center of Excellence at Union Station as part of Cyber Security Awareness Month, with the theme 'Secure Our World.' Gene Kingsley, the cyber range manager, advised attendees on cybersecurity measures, emphasizing the importance of strong passwords and using VPN technology.

The event attracted college and high school students as well as community members, providing them with insights into both local and global cybersecurity issues.
