WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Wayne E. Phaneuf, former executive editor of The Republican, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Valley Press Club at a ceremony held on Thursday at Storrowton Tavern's Carriage House in West Springfield.

Phaneuf began his journalism career at The Republican in 1969 and served in various roles, including reporter, columnist, and managing editor, before becoming the executive editor in 1998. He retired in 2019 after a distinguished career covering significant events such as presidential elections, Watergate, and 9/11.
