This week brought some shakeups to the business community, with a crime-connected closure , the opening of a Texas Tech connected rock climbing gym and other news. Here are the highlights.

Tenants at Lubbock's Executive Inn, 4401 Ave. Q., received a flyer notifying them they were being told to vacate the motel by Tuesday, Oct. 7, due to its pending closure following recent criminal activity.

The letter stated the City of Lubbock wanted this to be done due to recent "overdoses, shootings and robberies." The police department followed up, saying no such directive was given by them or the city, but LPD supported the move.
