Bengaluru: The IT capital of the country witnessed heavy rainfall on Thursday evening which led to several roads getting waterlogged and many areas inundated in rainwater. The waterlogged roads worsened the traffic situation in the city. The rain started late Thursday afternoon and continued till late night. The downpour that went on for hours left the city deluged as it was too much for its drainage system to handle.
Rainwater filled the underpasses, low-lying streets, and storm drains. In some areas, the rainwater rose up till people’s knees. Areas such as Whitefield, HSR Layout, the Outer Ring Road (ORR), Siddapura, and Panathur underbridge faced the worst waterlogging. Water entered some of the houses in residential neighborhoods.
