October is a great time in Alaska to be focusing on our energy supply and our energy usage. Starting with the concept that the cheapest and cleanest form of energy is that which you don’t use. Second cheapest is renewable energy. Worldwide, solar plus storage and wind have become cheaper than coal, diesel, and natural gas.

I have just finished facilitating an OLLI class where over the course of five sessions we had half a dozen experts in the field of renewable energy production as well as energy efficiency and energy conservation address an in-person class of 25 elders and an average of about 20 seniors on zoom. We heard that solar PV plus storage is a good investment.
