Kids teaching kids is always a good option.

That’s why North Pole Middle School student band and orchestra musicians are sharing their love of music with other elementary students in the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District.

These visits are turning into a great way to turn younger students on to music when they move into middle school, according to North Pole Middle School band teacher Michael McConnell.

Currently, instrumental music has been cut from school budgets, although general music is still taught. So the first experience students have with musical instruments is when they get to middle school.
