GROVETOWN, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Nearly 100 people will be affected by a layoff from Augusta Sportswear at the end of this year, according to the Georgia Department of Labor.

The Columbia County store will permanently close, although a date has not been released yet.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is ending a decades-long survey that has been the nation’s primary tool for tracking food insecurity.

The Georgia Department of Labor states 93 of the 158 employees will be affected by the layoffs.

According to the Georgia Department of Labor, the first date of separation will be December 19, 2025.

According to Augusta Sportswear’s website , the company was founded in 1977.
