EUTAWVILLE, S.C. - A spider monkey hanging on the side of a building isn’t something you’d normally see every day - especially in the small town of Eutawville.
Eutawville Town Clerk Casey Hill said she spotted the monkey, named Eva, while setting up for the annual Crappie Classic and Fall Fest on Oct. 4.
Hill noted that Eva was wearing a collar and a leash.
“I didn’t know what to think,” she said. “I’ve never seen a monkey running loose in Eutawville.”
For a while, no one was able to catch Eva. Even when her owner showed up, the spider monkey still ran back and forth across the street.
“We kept having to stop traffic because we didn’t want anybody to get injured or Eva to get hurt,” Hill said.
That’s when she got an idea of how to lure Eva in.
