Leezah Sun, a former state lawmaker and current school governing board member, was sentenced to 24 months of probation for violating a court order not to contact Tolleson officials she harassed and threatened in 2023.

Sun asked for leniency before the sentence, saying in a strained, emotional voice she had been the target of politics-related "bullying" and harassment by her "enemies" for years. She claimed restrictions preventing her from contacting the officials could impede her job as a school board official in the West Valley city and hamper her future elections.
