Manchester Airport has announced the launch of new direct flights to Delhi, the capital of India, in a move civic leaders said would 'supercharge' economic relations between the country and the UK.
The announcement follows the signing of a landmark trade deal between the UK and India praised this week by Sir Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister, during his ongoing visit to the country.
The new flights from Manchester were announced at the start of the trade mission. They will be operated by India's biggest airline - IndiGo - and have been tipped to accelerate the benefits of the new trade deal by helping businesses across the north to export to one of the world's fastest-growing economies.
The announcement comes after IndiGo chose Manchester Airport for its first ever long-
