COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — “It was the loudest crack in the world,” Bill Ernest Pahl, a Comstock Park resident, said about his fall from his hunting treestand.
It was November. The woods were dark, cold and he was alone.
He was unable to walk.
“All I did was scream and scream,” he said. “I tried screaming louder so maybe a neighbor might hear, but it was totally black out, totally night, and I screamed louder and louder to try to get somebody's attention.”
Then Pahl remembered he had his phone in his pocket. He called his wife Pattie, who was making a celebratory dinner, thinking her husband would come home with the large buck they spotted on their property earlier that day.
