A tragic altercation at a Dallas shopping center ended with the fatal shooting of Cecilia Simpson , 41, allegedly by Keona Hampton , 22, on Tuesday (October 7). The incident reportedly began when Simpson became upset with Hampton for not saying "thank you" after she held a door open for her , according to an affidavit obtained by ABC News .

The d ispute escalated in the parking lot of a shopping center in southwest Dallas. Simpson and a witness, who is unnamed for safety reasons, initially left the store and drove to another location within the shopping center, where they reported being followed by Hampton. The altercation continued inside a PetSmart store and later moved back to the parking lot.
